You Rain Some, You Lose Some

The recording of real rain sound can be a hit or miss proposition. For example, over the weekend I was in Gainesville working on a special recording project. While I was there, I thought that with a tropical storm passing by along the west coast of Florida I’d be able to record some good rain sounds that I could add to our rain recording CD and mp3 collection.

But no-o-o-o. It did sprinkle a few times, but nothing that would be meaningful. I constantly checked the weather radar and there was rain all around me, but where I was never got a good hit. However, as I was finishing packing things into the car yesterday to leave, it began a light rain. As I got outside of Gainesville, violent thunderstorms and torrential rain followed me all the way back home. Once I got home, the rain stopped!

Thus, I’ll have to wait for another day and another rain for another rain sound recording opportunity.
